A BREAKTHROUGH FOR FATE ALUMNI

FATE HAS COMMENCED MICRO-CREDIT FINANCE SCHEME FOR ITS ENTREPRENEURS

In addition to providing its entrepreneurs with world-class business and entrepreneurial training and business support services, FATE Foundation has secured a micro-credit finance facility for its entrepreneurs.

The Foundation has long recognised the key constraint of access to finance that small and medium enterprises grapple with in Nigeria, including its alumni, and is therefore committed to addressing this constraint.

The micro-credit facility arrangement is in collaboration with Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO), a Microfinance Institution. Together with LAPO, FATE has already provided its alumni with a range of inexpensive financial services on favourable conditions.

Under the collaboration, LAPO will provide the funds needed and necessary training for the Alumni for effective application of the funds to their businesses by attaching credit officers to the alumni to see them through the loan tenure. On its own part, FATE will assist in vetting the qualified alumni and provide advisory services on this programme while conducting is traditional scheduled monthly alumni evaluation throughout the loan tenure.

The funds to be provided are in ranges of N250, 000 to a total of N1 million for qualified alumnus for the loan scheme at inexpensive rates and favourable repayment term.

A little over forty FATE Alumni Entrepreneurs has been trained in the first part of this project already. A detailed comprehensive two-day workshop for participants that will take them through every major aspect of business planning, accounting and record keeping, hereby enhancing their capacity to build efficient, profitable and sustainable businesses, has been designed. These alumni will then be provided the needed funds for their businesses after the training.
