THE FATE CONSULTING SERVICE

FATE Consultant Form 

The FATE Consulting service offers functional and industry-specific support to aspiring and emerging entrepreneur.

We are committed to offering consulting services as one of the key ancillary services that we provide for our participants. We have chosen to offer this service because we realize that our participants require one-on-one support in specific functional and industry areas. We are convinced that by offering periodic consulting advice to these participants, we can assist them in establishing successful businesses.

Prerequisites for Serving as a FATE Consultant

  • Expertise in an industry that is of interest to FATE participants. 

  • Commitment to fostering an open and supportive relationship with FATE participants

  • Commitment to spending 4-6 hours with FATE participants on a monthly basis

  • Strong business ethics

  • Identification of a liaison officer within your organisation

Target Clients

The primary target clients for FATE are aspiring entrepreneurs who are between 22 and 32 years and have obtained at least their first degrees.

The secondary target clients for FATE are emerging entrepreneurs - individuals who have businesses that are not less than 3 years old, and have a vision to build larger and sustainable businesses 

Core Services

FATE is committed to accomplishing its mission by providing four core services:

  • The FATE Programme for Aspiring Entrepreneurs - This is composed of the FATE School of Entrepreneurship, FATE Mentoring Programme, Loan Support Scheme, FATE Consulting service, FATE Internship Programme, and the Computer Centre. It is designed to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the skills, tools, networks and financing required to establish successful businesses.

  • The FATE Programme for Emerging Entrepreneurs - FATE has designed a one-year programme comprised of 2-day monthly workshops, which cover a wide range of business topics, facilitation and referrals for bank loans, networking sessions and a range of ancillary services. It aims at providing emerging entrepreneurs with practical skills to ensure the sustainable growth of their businesses. The services provided are FATE Consulting service, FATE Business forum, FATE Financing Forum, FATE Business Library, and the Computer Centre.

  • The FATE Enterprise Promotion Services - These services include FATE's monthly seminars and workshops and its entrepreneurship-counselling programme. It also includes FATE's NGO Capacity Building Services through which it offers a range of publications and training materials on business development in Nigeria. FATE also offers 3-5 day training workshops for the staff and beneficiaries of microfinance and enterprise development organisations.

  • The FATE Alumni Services - These provide a network of programmes for a period of 24 months. These programmes are aimed at monitoring, nurturing, as well as making support service available to assist FATE graduates effectively use the skills, and tools acquired during the training period. The services rendered are Business support services, consulting service, FATE business library, business incubator, summer internship programme

Logistics

Hours and location

  • FATE Consultants are expected to devote between 4-6 hours of their time a month to the FATE Consulting Service

  • FATE staff will contact the consultant to prepare a consulting schedule that best fits the consultant's needs. The volunteer consultant will be contacted at least a month in advance to allow for the selection of convenient dates and times

  • Depending on the demand for the consultant's services, time commitments may differ during different periods of the year

  • Consultants will be given the opportunity to determine their ideal meeting locations Briefing Session

  • FATE Consultants will be required to participate in one briefing session to ensure that they are familiar with the loose guidelines and procedures which govern the FATE Consulting Service

  • This briefing session will be held at FATE Foundation office at a time to be agreed upon by both the consultant and the FATE management.
