1. What is FATE Foundation about?
FATE Foundation is a private sector-led, non-profit organisation dedicated to equipping enterprising Nigerian youth with skills, tools and networks that these individuals can create successful businesses which will in turn offer gainful employment to people in Nigeria.
2. What is FATE’s Mission?
FATE’s mission is to foster wealth creation by promoting business and entrepreneurial development among Nigerians.
3. What is FATE’s Vision?
FATE’s vision is to foster the establishment and growth of over five thousand (5,000) businesses by 2015, after initially establishing one thousand (1,000) businesses in 2005. These businesses will in turn lead to the creation of employment for at least 50,000 Nigerians by 2015.
4. What courses do you offer?
Our A.E.P (Aspiring Entrepreneurs Programme) is a four months training designed to assist participants between the ages of 22 – 40 years old to develop their business ideas, set up and operate fast growing businesses. The benefits include mentoring sessions, scholarship schemes, free after graduation consulting services among others.
Our E.E.P (Emerging Entrepreneurs Program) is a nine weeks programme specifically tailored for advanced entrepreneurs, who would like to take their businesses to the next level. Benefits include a visit to a quoted company on the NSE for fact finding and business forums with Nigerian business leaders
Our S.E.C. (Short Entrepreneurial Courses) is a series of capacity building training workshops for entrepreneurs who are unable to commit to the four month long Aspiring Entrepreneur Programme. These services can also be provided as customized training programmes for corporate organizations and groups on demand.
Our S.R.D. (Samsung Real Dreams) programme is a corporate social responsibility initiative of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd in partnership with International Youth Foundation (IYF) and FATE Foundation. It provides young people between the ages of 22 – 35 years old with training, mentorship, technical assistance, and business development services to enable them start and run their own businesses.
5. Do I get financial support after the program(s) are complete?
FATE Foundation does not offer financial support. However, FATE offers networking opportunities that draw potential investors to enable participants sell their business ideas to get finance.
6. How do I register for the various program(s)?
For any of the programmes you can come to FATE office and collect an application form, or it can be downloaded from our website (www. fatefoundation.com).
7. What is the Business Plan Competition?
The Business Plan Competition is organized by FATE Foundation and supported by other organizations. The competition is where the participants “sell” their business ideas before a panel of expert judges and prospective investors. Only participants of A.E.P Programme qualify for the competition from both Port Harcourt and Lagos branches. Three winners win various cash prizes.
8. How can you become a Volunteer?
FATE Volunteers offer Entrepreneurial Programme facilitation, Mentoring, Business Consultancy Services and promotion of projects organized by the organization without the expectation of pay or other tangible gain. 12. What else is FATE involved in?
FATE partners with various groups, organisations and other forums to speak and enlighten Nigerians on Entrepreneurship. FATE is open to invitations from the public to speak on entrepreneurship topics. FATE also provides a variety of networking programmes for a period which is open to members of the alumni.
