Executive Director’s Statement
It is with great joy and pride that I present this year’s report, running the vision to create wealth has been an interesting challenge and I am proud to say that our dream of creating at least one entrepreneur per household is not far fetched, with the result we audited on the development of our alumni it is clear that our initial target mission will be met before the targeted year. Consequently the road to success is usually not smooth likewise the journey to our achievements this year.
Being at the helms of affairs of a world class organisation such as FATE Foundation has led to the strengthening of laid down structures to balance the platform on which FATE is to ensure more effective production of entrepreneurs of international standard as promised.
This year 2006/2007 saw FATE Foundation concretize a couple of collaboration and partnerships with the foundation, both corporate and not-for-profit, to produce effective results in our quest for aiding economic growth through entrepreneurial development. The intensification of this concretization helped us move a few steps closer towards our goal of creating a prosperous and working society through the empowerment of over 4000 persons at all our regular programmes.
Part of our goal of securing an easier financing scheme for our alumni was reached this year through our strategic partnership with the International Financial Corporation; A micro- finance institution – Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO). Also our relationship with corporate bodies such as The Citigroup Foundation, in the sponsorship of our training programmes for the financially under-privileged has complimented part of our effort. Details of these are provided in this report.
Our alumni network has continue to make their presence felt in their respective industries, as many has continue to engage more in the service providing sector with a record high of 79 % of our total alumni base while for the first time there was an incursion into agriculture by a minor sect made up of 4 AEP and 2 EEP alumni, respectively. Also our new impact survey shows that 76% of general expectations about FATE Foundation have been met satisfactorily.
Our Port-Harcourt station has continuously increased its impact in the Niger Delta. This year alone 423 persons attended our on-site regular programmes in that region while more off-site trainings have been conducted through strategic partnerships with several corporate bodies. In spite of all these more hands are still on deck to achieve even more in the Niger Delta.
So far so good our activities this reporting year have been quite successful, our targets for the coming year has been stretched to accommodate more land mark achievements. These targets include taking the Foundation’s services to other parts of the country, facilitating more effective training, creating more partnerships and evidently carry more efficient corporate social responsibility programmes.
As usual these accomplishments couldn’t have been met without the support of virtuous men and women that have continuously assisted the foundation as donors, facilitators, mentors, volunteers and consultants. To them, my appreciation cannot be exhausted. Also our media partners who have been very instrumental in the positive projection of our message of goodwill, we are entirely grateful.
I deeply thank the entire FATE staff for their unmatched effort in the achievement of yearly set goals.
Thank you and enjoy reading our impact report
